Tsunami Affected Areas Rebuilding Project (TAARP)– ADB Loan No. 2167 – Road Rebuilding and Rehabilitation – Phase 1 Outline Design and Preparation of Bidding Documents - National Roads in South and South East Region

The Government recognizes that thorough and permanent road rebuilding measures are necessary to protect the roadway network of main transport links and feeder roads along the coastal belt affected by the tsunami. This project targets rehabilitating approximately 300 kms. of national coastal A and B class roads and 200 kms. of associated provincial roads in the Southern and South East regions. The primary objective of the assignment is to provide a reliable, sustainable, maintainable and safer road system in the tsunami affected areas. Rehabilitation of national roads will be undertaken on the existing horizontal alignment and within the existing right of way where possible
