Master Plan for Water Supply and Sanitation

A Programme to prepare a Master Plan for the Water Supply and Sanitation for the Anuradhapura District covering the main towns of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. The Project involved institutional, legal and engineering consultancy services and covered a total area of 7.219 kms. The key objectives of the project were (i) to determine standards for improved sanitary conditions; (ii) to provide safe drinking water for the inhabitants; (iii) to investigate and recommend technological, operational and maintenance procedures; (iv) to introduce a participatory approach for O&M operations; and (v) formulate and identify cost recovery arrangements.
