Sri Lanka Second Water Supply and Sanitation Project - ADB Loan Loan No. 817 SRI (SP) and Loan No. 1235 SRI (SF)
Loan No.817 - The Project was designed to review 49 existing water supply schemes with potential for rehabilitation, selecting around 30 to 40 for rehabilitation, preparation of feasibility studies, appraisal reports, detailed engineering designs, cost estimates and contract documents for same and assisting the Executing Agency in the evaluation of bids and providing construction supervision and training services.
Loan No. 1235 - The Project was for the rehabilitation of 28 existing water supply schemes and included a component for the reduction of unaccounted water as well as improve cost recovery on the part of the NWSDB and Local Authorities in several selected districts. The project also aimed to transfer the management of water supply distribution from the NWSDB to concerned Local Authorities and improve the competence of these authorities to manage distribution facilities. Direct benefits from the Project included a reliable and safe water supply for the recipient communities and the elimination of unnecessary water wastage and energy losses.
