AFD Loan: Trincomalee Integrated Infrastructure Project – Batticaloa – Trincomalee Road (A15) Construction Supervision

The objective of the Project is to provide a reliable, sustainable, maintainable and safer road system in the tsunami affected areas, consisting of over 100 kms of coastal national Class A (A-15- Trinco to Batticaloa) and Class B (B-10 – Ella-Kantalai to Mudur) roads and national roads connecting coastal roads.

Road rehabilitation will greatly contribute to improving the living conditions of the people, including resettling the population affected by the Tsunami. The roads will provide access to vital services, to tourist destinations, to agriculture and fisheries and will support renewed economic and development orientated activities that will, in turn, restore and enhance peoples’ livelihoods.

• The National Road Component, which provides for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of a total of approximately 135 kms of Class A and B Roads in the districts of Trincomalee and Batticaloa

The Provincial Roads Component which provides for the rehabilitation of approximately 33kms of Class C Coastal Road in the district of Trincomalee.
